Welcome to the Performing Arts!
Leah Williams
I have taught music for 16 years. I earned my Bachelor of Music Education degree from East Carolina University. I was a marching pirate! After ECU, I taught in Durham County, Johnston County and Neuse Charter. I have received over $15,000 in grants and competition money for Neuse Charter School's Performing Arts Programs. I love to teach music through song, dance, games, technology and playing a variety of instruments. I believe music is a vital part of our students education. Students also gain valuable skills such as self-discipline, self-confidence, cooperative learning, teamwork, how to read music, music history and theory. Many studies have shown that learning to play an instrument helps your brain develop in ways nothing else can. Music performance improves student’s skills in math and language arts as well. It's an excellent place to meet great people and develop lasting friendships.

Teacher, actor, singer, dancer, costumer, director, optimist...I think that about sums it up!I am thrilled to be returning as Intermediate and Senior Academy Theatre and Dance teacher at Neuse Charter School. This will be my second year at Neuse Charter and I am excited to grow and develop the fine arts program. Graduated from NC State with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology, and Theatre minor. Currently, I'm pursuing a Master's in Theatre Education degree from Catholic University of America. I am an advocate for Arts Education believing that the arts can teach students skills that will last a lifetime including self-confidence, leadership, persistence, empathy, collaboration, creativity, and public speaking skills. This is what the arts have brought into my life and I have a passion for bringing these skills to light in our students.
